A warm and cheesy meatball sandwich baked to perfection, perfect for cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- Sandwich rolls (cut with one side intact)
- Cooked meatballs (your favorite recipe or frozen, pre-made meatballs)
- Pasta sauce (homemade or jarred)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Start by spraying a baking sheet with cooking spray and preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Place your frozen or homemade cooked meatballs in a large pot. Pour your pasta sauce over them.
- Fold the meatballs in the sauce, ensuring they are well coated.
- Heat the meatballs and sauce on low to medium heat, stirring occasionally until they are heated through.
- Fill each sandwich roll with as many meatballs as you can fit—usually 4 to 5, depending on the size of the meatballs and the roll.
- Top each filled roll with extra pasta sauce from the pot.
- Arrange the filled sandwich rolls closely on the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over each sandwich.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted, hot, and bubbly, usually about 10-15 minutes.
Notes
Make-ahead advice: Prepare the meatballs and sauce a day in advance. Leftover sandwiches can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
