Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
For the icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it feels smooth and slightly elastic under your hands.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 60 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread a bit of softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest.
- Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Slice into even rolls, about 1 inch thick.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, cover them again, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes.
- For the icing, mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls, watching it melt into the nooks and crannies.
