Description

A creamy, comforting breakfast casserole perfect for easy mornings and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of bread, cubed
  • 1 pound sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 12 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, place the cubed bread evenly across the bottom.
  2. Top with the cooked sausage and shredded cheese, creating a delicious layer.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage, ensuring every piece of bread is soaked through.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. In the morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Remove the casserole from the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, until the eggs are set and the top is beautifully golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Optional: garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.
