Description

A delightful and easy weeknight dinner featuring crispy chicken pieces coated in a sweet and savory sesame sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and cornstarch in a bowl, mixing until smooth.
  2. Beat the eggs in another bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl, ready for coating.
  4. Dip chicken pieces first into the flour mixture, then into the eggs, and finally coat them thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Let them rest on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer to meld the flavors.
  7. Add the crispy fried chicken to the sauce, gently stirring to coat.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For a zesty twist, add orange juice to the sauce or a splash of sriracha for heat. Store leftovers for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
