Description
A delightful and easy weeknight dinner featuring crispy chicken pieces coated in a sweet and savory sesame sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Combine the flour and cornstarch in a bowl, mixing until smooth.
- Beat the eggs in another bowl until light and fluffy.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl, ready for coating.
- Dip chicken pieces first into the flour mixture, then into the eggs, and finally coat them thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Let them rest on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer to meld the flavors.
- Add the crispy fried chicken to the sauce, gently stirring to coat.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Notes
For a zesty twist, add orange juice to the sauce or a splash of sriracha for heat. Store leftovers for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
