Description

A cozy family favorite featuring juicy hamburger steaks nestled in a creamy gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  3. Brown the patties for 3–4 minutes per side in an oven-safe skillet until golden.
  4. Melt the butter in the same skillet and sauté the sliced onions until soft.
  5. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for about 2 minutes.
  6. Whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream, creating a smooth gravy.
  7. Nestle the browned patties back into the gravy.
  8. Cover the skillet tightly and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
