- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra richness)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 2 cups of your favorite frosting or toppings
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cupcake tin with paper liners or grease it lightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing just until combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the tops are golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Prepare your frosting or toppings while cooling, then decorate as desired.
Notes
For different flavors, you can swap vanilla with almond extract or add cocoa powder for chocolate cupcakes.
