Description

Warm, fluffy bao buns filled with savory ground beef, perfect for a cozy dinner or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Add the yeast mixture and knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. In another bowl, mix ground beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and green onions.
  4. Once the dough has risen, divide it into small pieces and roll out each piece into circles. Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and pinch to seal.
  5. Place the buns in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper and steam for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy the flavors!

Notes

You can prepare the filling a day in advance and freeze the buns for later.
